Introduction

I'm so pleased to introduce Lauren Erb, the new Executive Director of the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation. Lauren and I were introduced by a dear mutual friend and she came to work for the Foundation shortly thereafter. Her dedication to caring for carcinoid/NET patients, intelligence, and terrific judgment are all so impressive. I'm deeply honored and very proud that the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation has been able to hire Lauren as our first permanent staff member. Her salary is being funded by a generous member of our Board of Directors. So, the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation can still say 100% of all of your donations go to scientific research!

I hope all of you are writing in with questions for our new ASK THE DOCTOR segment! We get so many calls and e-mails daily about treatments and their efficacy that CFCF thought it would be a good idea to introduce this new segment. E-mail us questions and we'll forward them on to our first doctor, Dr. Matthew Kulke.

The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation just announced a second Sunflower Grant award, to the New England Carcinoid Connection.

Also, we carcinoid/NET patients have so many wonderful fund-raising events coming up:
the Run for Hope organized by the Lambert family in Fort Colins, Colorado;
the Seattle-to-Portland Bike Race, organized by Patrice Rasmussen;
the Chicago Half-Marathon;
the Chicago Marathon;
the Marine Corps Marathon...
and many others!!
